One, it was a payoff and two, it's a way for Adolfo Carrion to carry out the same kind of 'Pay for play' deals that he specialized in when he was the Bronx Borough President. This guy is now the urban czar who has many more powers over the already confirmed Housing and Urban Development secretary Shaun Donovan. We all know that there have been czars in past administrations, Homeland Security czar, drug czar, et cetera, but there are so many extra layers here of overlords who have usurped authority from confirmed cabinet appointments, and this includes a very shady character, Adolfo Carrion, who was the Bronx Borough President and delivered Latino votes to Obama in that neighborhood. Shady characterĭuring an interview with Glenn Beck, he had asked Michelle Malkin to give the American people an update on who some of the czars are, as it became a rapidly growing list of unknown people appointed by Barack Obama. He focused particularly on states with large Hispanic populations. (Speech in 2007) ĭuring Barack Hussein Obama's campaign for Presidency, Carrion helped as an active campaigner for Obama, travelling across the country to speak on his behalf. We will eradicate poverty by investing in our most important asset: our children and families. Since 2007, he has been President of the National Association of Latino Elected Officials. He then went on and acted as Borough President of the Bronx from 2001 to 2009, where he was criticized for his actions following a large fire that occurred on March 7, 2007. He was a City Council member from 1998 to 2000. In 1997, Carrión won a seat in the New York City Council.
